Oh! SNAP!

Asked the next morning at the United Nations whether he and Mr. Annan had made peace at the farewell event, Mr. Bolton said, “Nobody sang ‘Kumbaya,’ ” referring to a confessional song celebrating companionship.

Told of Mr. Bolton’s comment, Mr. Annan said, “But does he know how to sing it?”

For me, it doesn't get any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman." But that's just me.

Something else shocking from the Times yesterday was Phil Mushnick's column, where he gets kind of offensive in his description of what's happened to Maurice Cheeks in his NBA coaching career:

"One more thing: I’m tired of people with one-way vision and selective memories telling us that a racist sports world persists, based on the latest head count of black head coaches. Maurice Cheeks, African-American, daily was undermined by the misdeeds - often criminal - of black players when he tried to coach the Trail Blazers. Now, Iverson has done it to him in Philly.

Cheeks, by now, might’ve been among the most revered coaches in the history of the NBA. The people who thus far have prevented any chance of that happening, while placing his coaching career in peril, aren’t white."

On a sort-of-related note, Iris: I hope for your sake that the Celtics trade for Iverson. For my sake, I hope he goes to Chicago. That's all.
